BIE Regional Consultation Meetings Schedule

On March 8, 2007 the Departments of the Interior and Education sent an invitation to tribal leaders, school board members, and tribal community members to participate in six regional consultation meetings planned in accordance with Bureau of Indian Affairs Government-to-Government Consultation Policy. Specifically, schools funded by the Bureau of Indian Affairs should plan to attend and provide comments and recommendations on the following consultation issue:
Improving outcomes for Indian Students in BIE-funded schools by finding legislative alternatives that effectively reconcile the apparently conflicting Congressional polices reflected in 1)the Elementary adn Secondary Education Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the McKinney-Vento Act, and in 2) both the Tribally Controlled Schools Act and the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
